Our Story
Our founder–Jessica Mostek–officially started Beauty Full Day in 2015, and her first sale was at the Blaine Fair that summer. Before this, however, she had been developing products and sharing them with friends and family for multiple years.
The Beginning: Later Gator!
She first became interested in product development when she realized that the modern medicine solutions for her oldest child’s eczema were not working sufficiently for his quality of life. From birth he had suffered from eczema, but it reached a tipping point in middle school, as he was constantly suffering from painful flare-ups that resulted in bright red, dry skin that was unbearably itchy. These symptoms led to itching that would cause bleeding, flaking, and scabbing. The patches would appear on his arms, hands, neck, and face—sometimes spreading to the chest, back, and legs during particularly bad periods. Always causing pain in both stillness and movement, and often causing embarrassment from the bright and obvious color. In an effort to relieve her child’s suffering, she became a registered herbalist and threw herself into research to find the best ingredients for reducing inflammation, pain, itchiness, and dryness. Eventually, she came up with an oil and wax-based product, a salve that she dubbed “Later Gator,” after it’s ability to say goodbye to the irritated and flaky alligator-like texture of eczema-affected skin. Eventually she also discovered Sea Buckthorn, a plant whose fruit could produce an oil that is an incredibly powerful natural anti-inflammatory. She reformulated the product to include it, and along with its new bright-orange color came the new name of “Rescue Salve.” She then also created a more solid formula that she called “Rescue Balm.”
Herbal Deodorant and Dedication
The next product Jes started developing came when her mother was battling breast cancer. She was completely shocked that her mother had developed cancer in the first place, as the woman had spent nearly her whole life working hard to avoid carcinogens—she never smoked, bought exclusively organic foods before that was a thing, and was always careful about what she put in or near her body. During a discussion with one of her mother’s nurses, she discovered that antiperspirants were something that doctors were concerned about in relation to breast cancer. The extent of aluminum’s danger was questionable, but the purposeful clogging of pores and prevention of proper flushing from an area so connected to the lymph system was particularly concerning. This conversation pushed her to try natural deodorants, but she soon realized that it was extremely difficult to find one that actually worked. She tried so many different brands; from small businesses, larger businesses, and individual sellers alike. All of them had similar results: burning, irritation, and an overall lack of success. She suffered sweaty pits, stained shirts, and increased B.O. stench over her months-long search for a proper natural deodorant. Until finally she remembered that she knew chemistry and hebology! So she admitted defeat and decided to start the journey to creating her own natural deodorant. Months passed with hours and piles of research and testing. Tweaking the proportions, changing ingredients, adjusting methods, testing it on herself and asking an increasing number of supportive friends for feedback as well. Then, finally, after 114 failed iterations, she landed on the recipe that is still used today!
Beauty Full Beginnings
As she progressed in her skill and knowledge, she continued sharing her journey and products with her friends. Over time, she was being slowly overwhelmed with more and more requests for personal use, gifts, and beyond. Eventually, it came to the point where people started suggesting that maybe she should turn this into a business. From the start, she had been making the products for herself and her family and friends, mixing and cooking recipes in her kitchen at home, but as the requests kept rolling in, she realized that maybe this could be a viable business idea. She had wanted to try entrepreneurship since her graduation from Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Maybe this was a chance to do it for real!
So, she started working. She began by seeking out advice from others—professionals that she knew through various channels already, as well as those that she sought out or even hired. She did most of the graphic design for labels herself, did research to find suppliers, and prepared a clean and functional space to be able to responsibly and safely make the products. Once she was ready to launch her company, she started by looking for craft fairs. The very first sale of Beauty Full Day products happened at the Blaine fair in the summer of 2015. She spent that whole week speaking to people who passed by, and teaching her kids how to be successful sales people alongside her.
Over the next few years, she worked overtime developing products, designing labels, sourcing packaging and ingredients, going to craft fairs and farmers markets, and making sales calls to potential wholesale customers. It was slow to start, and gruelling, exhausting work, but she enjoyed it, and she was good at it. Eventually the business grew enough to hire one, then two, then three, then four employees! Her husband, an accomplished computer engineer, designed a website for her, and she used her knowledge of photography to take professional pictures of her products to use on her new website. There were ups and downs, successes and failures, learning experiences, tears and joy.
A Roadblock
Then, in 2019, after years of trial and error and hard work, the business was finally on the verge of becoming profitable! Almost every co-op and natural food store in the twin cities carried Beauty Full Day products, and wholesale customers were receiving packages in several states across the US. But then COVID hit. Suddenly, individual customers were being laid off, losing money, and unable to afford buying products as regularly. Wholesale customers—small stores across the US—were needing to drop Beauty Full Day and other suppliers in order to save themselves, or even having to close their doors entirely. In person events stopped happening altogether, and Jes herself was losing the brain power, motivation, and time to focus on the business that she had poured so much of herself into. Her employees could no longer come to work for her, and she was almost dead in the water. Right at the peak of growth, Beauty Full Day was shot out of the sky, and fell to a shell of what it had been before 2020.
Recovery and New Goals!
After the quarantine ended, Melanie and Kristy were able to come back to work. Over the next couple of years, Jes did her best to keep the business afloat, but was increasingly unable to put in the same amount of effort that she had been before. Eventually, financial stressors pushed her to find a new job to help her husband support her family, and she was no longer able to put in any regular hours. So Melanie and Kristy (happy to do their jobs but not interested in taking over other roles) kept up with the orders from the remaining customers, but no new sales were coming in. Then, Alex, Jes’s oldest, decided he wanted to help. He needed a job, and Beauty Full Day needed a new salesperson, so he came onboard and did his best to pick up the slack that had been left during Jes’s absence. There was some slow growth, mostly just reclaiming some of the losses that had been seen in 2020. He worked off and on for almost two years, and eventually brought on John (Jessica’s father) as another salesperson in the summer of 2025. John, an experienced salesperson, brought a new energy to the sales team until Fall of 2025 brought Alex an internship class, where he chose to “intern” at Beauty Full Day. This class, along with John’s exuberant support, brought a new-found motivation to make something concrete, and after a suggestion from Jes, Alex began to work to create a brand-new business plan for Beauty Full Day. By the end of the semester, he had completed it and presented it to his parents for approval and feedback. Seeing the potential in the plan, alongside the goals and aspirations Alex had discovered for the business, they agreed that Alex would take over as the leader of Beauty Full Day. Over the next few months, the new goals led to a greater motivation for everyone. They hired Erin as social media manager, made plans for more sales efforts, discussed what growth would mean for each person, and began pushing towards the hope of reclaiming Beauty Full Day’s former glory, as well as new heights that have yet to be seen!
Meet Our Team!
Here at Beauty Full Day, we know that everything we do depends on each and every one of us. We work together to keep this small family business running, so we make sure to appreciate our crew. Thank you for your continued support so that we can keep doing what we love!

Alex – Company President
Alex is the oldest son of Jessica Mostek–Beauty Full Day’s founder–and has been here from the very beginning! He was the inspiration for the very first Beauty Full Day product, and he hopes to continue guiding the company towards success every day.
As the current head of the company, Alex completes all administrative tasks, coordinates operations, and keeps us motivated. He assists with every area of the company, but most of his time is spent on marketing development, sales, and finances. He also LOVES doing in-person events, so if you see us at a market or a store, he’ll probably be there!
Melanie – Potions Master
Melanie started working at Beauty Full Day in 20??, and has been our rock since day one. Melanie manages production, which means that she makes each and every product that we sell. Previously employed as a private chef, Melanie was already highly skilled at creation, and after so many years at Beauty Full Day, she has become a master of formula development and product manufacturing.

Kristy – Packaging Manager
After the products are made and poured into their bottles or jars, they go to Kristy (pictured in the middle). Safety seals and labels are expertly applied before the finished product is either sent to the shelf, waiting to be ordered, or placed immediately into a shipping box that Kristy has filled with exactly the right amount of fluff to protect that precious cargo.
Erin – Social Media Manager
In January of 2026, Erin was hired to manage Beauty Full Day’s social media accounts. As a small business with a limited number of employees and a never-shrinking list of to-do’s, we have never had a consistent level of activity on social media. With Erin, that all changed. Now we have a regular schedule, a wealth of BeautyFull pictures, and hopes for a booming future. Catch us on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok for our weekly content!

Jessica – Founder and Owner
Jessica Mostek is an incredible force to be reckoned with, and we’re incredibly grateful that she used her intelligence and motivation to start Beauty Full Day back in 2015. Without her, Alex would still be suffering from extreme eczema every day, and the wonderful products that we sell would never have come to be. Jes worked tirelessly for almost ten years to conceptualize, formulate, design, package, and sell both her products and her company. Though she no longer works for Beauty Full Day, she is still active as advisor and oversight, and has a wealth of knowledge and wisdom that she shares with whoever asks.
Carlos Mostek – Finances and Technology
Though not an official employee, this man deserves a shoutout for all of his hard work and dedication to keeping Beauty Full Day afloat. Carlos has been in charge of finances and tech since the beginning, and has been invaluable as a resource for any and all of our related questions and needs. He created the website you’re looking at right now, and also created multiple other websites that we use internally for various operational needs. He also serves as another advisor for the company, and likely will for a long time.
